The First Challenge!

The first ever order for a cake I received, was not what I had expected.

I was expecting an order for a smallish cake for a few friends, covered with buttercream, with some piped details.

You know……cakes that we are used to making.

I had just started thinking about a small business, where I get to use some of the creative energy that have been accumulating, while I was taking care of my kidlet no. 1. So I bring a cake over to a friend's house. They love the cake and ask me to do their daughter's birthday cake.

I said okay, thinking how hard can it be, a small cake for a little girl. Right?

But no! They called back later asking me to do a cake for 70 people!

Oh, and by the way, their daughter would really love it if it were a princess!

That cake for me was challenging and nerve-wrecking!

But also a great opportunity to learn a lot of new techniques in a very short time.

In the end, my first princess cake turned out okay.

Well, it was pretty enough to make a little 4 year old girl (and her Mommy) very happy! :)

This is the cake that started my cake adventures. Otherwise it would probably have taken me a long time to dare to take on projects this big!
